Situated to the west of the Tagus estuary, the territory occupied by the municipality of Cascais is bordered to the north by the municipality of Sintra, to the south by the ocean and the west by the municipality of Oeiras.
Cascais lies at a distance of roughly 30km from Lisbon and is linked to the capital by road and rail routes.
The road link can be made on public transport or by private vehicle. Possible routes are the EN 6 (National Road or Marginal) and the A5 highway.
The rail link is maintained by the Lisbon-Cascais line, which takes a route parallel to that of the EN 6 and which links “Cais do Sodré” station, in Lisbon, to “Cascais” station, found in the historic centre of Cascais.
