Real Hotels Portugal is a traditional portuguese hotel group that has offered versatile, innovative and top quality solutions for anyone travelling on business or pleasure since 1994.

The Group first appeared on the market with the 1994 opening of the Real Parque in Lisbon. A 4-star Hotel which, thanks to its high quality standards, soon became one of the reference hotels in the portuguese capital.

1996 saw the opening of the Real Residência Suite Hotel, also 4-star, with a different but equally attractive concept for the portuguese market: positioned to accommodate longer stays in Lisbon, it is composed of apartments (suites, T1 and T2) instead of the customary hotel rooms.

Centring their attention on one of Portugal’s main tourist centres, Real Hotels Portugal made their first investment in Albufeira with the opening of the 4-star Real Bellavista Hotel. This Hotel enabled it to approach new market segments in a vital region of the country where the extensive coast with its fine sand and mediterrean-type climate satisfy leisure seekers, yet the superior capacity of the Hotel’s group rooms, among other facilities, easily meets the needs of business travellers.

The Group’s expansion continued with the 2003 launch, just five months apart, of two new hotels, the Real Palácio and the Real Oeiras.

The Real Palácio is the group’s first Heritage Hotel, with part of its charming premises occupying a seventeenth century palace. The Real Palácio opened in Lisbon in the 4-star category, however its distinguished service and unique area raised it to 5-star category in 2004.

The Real Oeiras enjoys a prime location between the two most recent and sought-after national and international business centres in Oeiras, also the axis of a triangle: city (Lisbon), beach (Cascais Line and Sintra) and mountains (Sintra). Its excellent situation provides access to motorways to both North and South in approximately 5 minutes. All this contributes to a diversified and pleasant stay, where business is complemented by the perfection of the natural landscape surrounding the Hotel.

The Grande Real Santa Eulália opened its doors in April 2004 and is a luxury Resort & Hotel Spa which is ideally located overlooking the famous Santa Eulália beach in Albufeira. This undertaking represents a new concept and challenge for the Group.

The corporate component continues to be part of the range of solutions which this hotel Group offers clients but the main new development is in leisure and well-being where guests can now enjoy the Real Spa Thalasso, the largest Spa facilities in the Algarve. Here it is possible to find numerous spa and beauty treatment programmes which provide exceptional well-being and relaxation.

In March 2007, the emphasis which the Real Hotels Group places on 5 star hotels was once again clear to see with the opening of a further luxury Hotel & Spa. The Grande Real Villa Itália is located in the elegant town of Cascais, more precisely next to “Boca do Inferno”. The Hotel is housed in the former residence of King Humberto II of Italy. This unit consolidates the Group’s positioning in the segments for conferences and events, well-being and golf.

More developments are planned before 2009 to expand the Real Hotels Group, with new openings which will continue to surprise, through solutions which concentrate on detail to meet the needs of clients and guests as well as make a difference to the portuguese tourism and hotel market.
