In the morning, get to know the city of Lisboa. In the afternoon, discover a place of world pilgrimage. Save €7,50 buying these 2 tours.
A few hours to discover Lisbon. First of all we will cross the 25th of April Bridge (if possible). On our return you get a fantastic view of Lisbon and its hills and then we go on to visit the Belém quarter, where you will find the most beautiful and historical monuments from the 15th and 16th centuries. A brief stop at the Belém Tower (Torre de Belém) - world heritage by UNESCO, point of departure of some of the Portuguese maritime explorations, and at the Monument to the Discoveries (Padrão dos Descobrimentos), built to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the “death “ of Prince Henry, the Navigator. Then we visit the church of S. Jerome Monastery (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos) - world heritage by UNESCO, a masterpiece of the “Manueline” style, and the Coach Museum (Museu dos Coches), with one of the most important collection of old carriages in the world (both closed on Mondays, replaced by the visit of Ajuda Palace or “Fundação Medeiros e Almeida”).
Along the river we arrive at Alfama, an old and traditional district, where we have the opportunity to walk in its narrow streets, and visit a handicraft shop where we taste an aperitif of Port wine. We will pass by the downtown (Baixa) to admire the most important squares of Lisbon such as the monumental Trade Square (Praça do Comércio), Rossio Square, the heart of Lisbon, and the symbolic Restauradores Square. Then we drive along the Liberdade Avenue, the “boulevard” of Lisbon, to finish at Pombal Square, with the statue of the statesman from the 18th century. Free time for lunch.
Leaving Lisbon, we head north towards the Sanctuary of Lady of Fatima. Arriving at the Sanctuary, it’s possible to visit the Basilica with the tombs of Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta; the Apparition Chapel, heart of the shrine; the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with the fountain of the Holy Water. During this time it is possible to attend mass. After, to better understand the history of the apparitions, we will go to Aljustrel/ Valinhos/ Loca do Anjo, where we find the houses of the Little Shepherds, the places of the apparitions of the Angel, and the place of the fourth apparition of Our Lady, on the 19th August 1917. After the visits, we will return to Lisbon.
