Lisbon and Sintra

The best way to visit Lisboa, Sintra and Costa do Estoril in one day at a very special price.

A few hours to discover Lisbon. First of all we will cross the 25th of April Bridge (if possible). On our return you get a fantastic view of Lisbon and its hills and then we go on to visit the Belém quarter, where you will find the most beautiful and historical monuments from the 15th and 16th centuries. A brief stop at the Belém Tower (Torre de Belém) - world heritage by UNESCO, point of departure of some of the Portuguese maritime explorations, and at the Monument to the Discoveries (Padrão dos Descobrimentos), built to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the “death“ of Prince Henry, the Navigator. Then we visit the church of S. Jerome Monastery (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos) - world heritage by UNESCO, a masterpiece of the “Manueline” style, and the Coach Museum (Museu dos Coches), with one of the most important collection of old carriages in the world (both closed on Mondays, replaced by the visit of Ajuda Palace or “Fundação Medeiros e Almeida”). Along the river we arrive at Alfama, an old and traditional district, where we have the opportunity to walk in its narrow streets and visit a handicraft shop where we taste an aperitif of Port wine. We will pass by the downtown (Baixa) to admire the most important squares of Lisbon such as the monumental Trade Square (Praça do Comércio); Rossio Square, the heart of Lisbon, and the symbolic Restauradores Square. Then we drive along the Liberdade Avenue, the “boulevard” of Lisbon, to finish at Pombal Square, with the statue of the statesman from the 18th century. Free time for lunch.

For an unforgettable afternoon, we leave for the village of Sintra (Cultural Landscape by UNESCO), to visit the Royal Palace (Palácio da Vila - closed on Wednesdays replaced by Queluz Palace), a charming spot where the Portuguese Royal Families spent long summers. Its rich collection of glazed tiles (azulejos) and the two conical chimneys of the kitchen’s palace are Sintra's ex-libris. It‘s also possible to taste the delicious local sweets in the tea-rooms: “Queijadas” and “Travesseiros”. Then we will drive through Sintra’s range, where its luxuriant and exuberant vegetation is to be seen, arriving at Roca Cape (Cabo da Roca - from 1st March to 31st October), the westernmost point in continental Europe. Along the coast, passing by Guincho beach, spot of windsurfers, by Boca do Inferno, a grotto created by the sea erosion, always with a sea view, enjoying the landscape, until we arrive in the cosmopolitan Cascais, where we take a glimpse over the bay. We return to Lisbon by Estoril, where we can have a panoramic view of the Casino and its gardens.
