SOCIAL PRACTICES

INSTITUTIONS SUPPORT

Since 2007, Real Hotels Group has been supporting the "Aldeias de Crianças SOS" through actions such as the "Semana do Chocolate" at Hotel Real Palácio, or the Mother's Day campaign, which takes place in all the units of the group aiming to raise funds and promote the cause of the institution.

Real Hotels Group also helps "Make a Wish" foundation by providing lodging and catering services and helping to make children's dreams come true.

More than 45% of our leadership roles are held by women [12% is the world average].


WE SUPPORT THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

We serve over 28.520 meals a year to local institutions we support [an average of 78 meals a day].

We are partners of several institutions that promote the professional integration of the unemployed, young people and people with disabilities.


WE HIGHLIGHT THE CULTURE AND LOCAL GASTRONOMY

More than 80% of the dishes served in our restaurants are part of the Portuguese gastronomy.


WE CONTRIBUTE TO THE DYNAMIZATION OF OUR ECONOMY

More than 70% of our purchases are products of Portuguese origin.


INVESTING IN OUR EMPLOYEES

On average we have more than 70 internal training sessions, workshops and motivations actions yearly. We have the afternoon of Mother's Day, Father's Day and our children's birthday, to spend with them. We have the best hotel Christmas party.

  • Blood: we alert and contribute to the blood supply available in the national territory
  • Goods: We forward assets to those who need them more, giving priority to our employees and to the local community.

REAL STONE SOUP

In 2016, on the 5th aniversary of REFOOD, the employees of Real Hotels Group prepared and served more than 900 meals for volunteers and REFOOD beneficiaries. A day with lots of party, fun and teamwork.


SOS VILLAGES IN PARTY

In 2017 we offered a day of celebration to all the children of the various "Aldeias de Crianças SOS". This is one of the associations that has been with Real Hotels Group for some time.


HAVE WORK DONE

In 2018 we joined MIMAR to offer a day of cleanings and rehabilitations in the association.


PINK POWER

We dedicate the month of October to breast cancer. More than alerting our employees, the local community and clients, for the importance of this issue, we have created products whose sales partly reverts to breast cancer research, and we have available 1 year-roud apartment for displaced patients who are being treated at IPO Lisbon.

We don't let others decide our future, and the future of our world. We act every day to minimize our environmental footprint and inspire others to do the same, so that, all together, we contribute to a healthier environment.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES:

GREEN HOTEL

There is a sustainable use of resources within the Hotel - and the little act, becomes gigantic when done by all.


LIGHTNING
  • Whenever possible, we priviledge natural light
  • About 60% of our lightning installations are equipped with LED or low-energy lamps
  • We use motion dectectors with timing
  • We encourage you to switch off the lightning when it is not needed

POWER MANAGEMENT
  • We use thermal insulation in the air ducts, pipes and tanks of the refrigeration and air conditioning systems
  • The rooms air conditioning systems is only available when they are occupied
  • All windows have a level of thermal insulation according to the climate and the sun exposure
  • We perform periodic preventive maintenance of air conditioning systems
  • Televisions and other lightning are automatically switched off when the customer leaves the room

URBAN WASTE MANAGEMENT
  • Grease from kitchen waste water
  • Food oils after use
  • Glass, Carton, Batteries, Lamps
  • Electronic equipment
  • Green waste

WATER MANAGEMENT
  • Flushing are installed with half-discharge and/or discharge-stop systems
  • Installation of flow reducers in all lavatory taps with a limitation of 8 liters per minute
  • The irrigation system is operated during night time to minimize the effects of evaporation, depending on the type of plants and the existing atmospheric conditions
  • Dishwashers and clothers use cost-effective operating programs


SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS

Products you'll find in the bathrooms and Spa are free from Sulfates (SLS/SLES), Parabens, Silicone, GMO (GEnetically Modified Organisms), Animal Ingredients, Dyes, Phthalates, and MIT. Our cleaning products are all eco-labeled.


FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT SITES WITH 0% COCERTIFICATE

All the energy consumed by the websites on the server is compensated by producing energy from renewable sources free of COemissions, without negative impact on the environment and ensuring the neutralization of the carbon footprint. Certificate issued on April 20, 2015 by Green4Networks and renewed annualy.


EARTH HOUR

It happens once a year, since 2015, in all units of Real Hotels Group, with the reduction of lightning and air conditioning in the public areas of all hotels.
