In two decades there were many events that shook the world and led us to this day.

Real Hotels Group results from the merger, in 2020, of two national hotel groups, the owners of the REAL brand and NEWPALM, operator of IHG’s Holiday Inn Express, becoming the largest merger of the Portuguese hotel industry in last decade, with 16 hotels and 2,100 rooms, spread over Lisbon, Porto and Algarve.

REAL hotels emerged in the 90s, when the world was governed by change and globalization and, contrary to all trends, a team of professionals led by a Visionary – João Bernardino Gomes, bet on Portugality and Excellence, believing that there are values that always remain. In 1994, João Bernardino Gomes founded the Portuguese hotel group with Hoteis REAL, opening its first unit in the center of Lisbon, Hotel Real Parque, which has become one of the reference hotels in the capital. In 2019 the Group already had 10 hotels in Portugal.

HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS Hotels were born in 2009, with the vision of establishing the brand with a solid expansion in the main cities of the country, having arrived at 2019 with 6 hotels in Lisbon and Porto, and being considered one of the hospitality groups with the highest growth in investment in Portugal and the main partner of InterContinental Hotels Group in the region.

With the current portfolio, we also make history and keep pace with its evolution. We follow the market, diversify our products and complement our offer, giving access to new experiences appropriate to each moment of life, anticipating the expectations, needs and motivations of those who seek us. We will be new, different and attractive!

We are proud of who we are and believe, in what we build and in the way we do it every day. This is our biggest flag, because we know that our history will always be different from the others, trying to offer the best that our country has and what the global client is looking for – Unique Experiences!
